Knee Strain and VA Disability: What Actually Gets You Rated
If your medical record says knee strain but does not clearly document functional loss, the VA can legally rate the condition at 0% disability. In this video, we explain how the VA actually evaluates knee strain under 38 CFR Part 4, what C&P examiners look for, and why limitation of motion and functional impairment matter more than the diagnosis itself.
You’ll learn how ratings are based on measurable loss such as reduced flexion or extension, and how symptoms like pain on movement, flare-ups, weakness, instability, fatigue, and reduced endurance can affect your VA disability rating.
We also cover the most common C&P exam mistake veterans make during range-of-motion testing, the symptoms you should clearly describe, and how secondary conditions can impact your overall rating. For structured guidance on documentation, C&P exams, and building stronger VA claims, check out the Deck Plate resources and the Vets Portal app designed to help veterans.
