Acute vs Chronic Conditions (VA Standard Explained)

You can be treated in service and still get denied. Because the VA says your condition was “acute”—not chronic. An acute condition is temporary. It appears, is treated, and resolves. A chronic condition is ongoing. It persists over time or repeatedly returns. The VA does not just look at whether a condition existed. It evaluates whether it continued. Under 38 CFR Part 3, service connection requires a current disability, not a resolved issue.
